The Wood

Breakfast was a real treat, with plenty of choices, good quality, and great taste. The main breakfast dish was prepared especially for me at the time I requested. The team were polite and upbeat, and they spoke English. I stayed over New Year's Eve 2025-26, and everything was wonderful. The room was stylish and the bed incredibly comfortable, though the room wasn't very big and I did miss having a balcony. The location also made it easy to explore the city and beyond.

Real plants are everywhere, and at times I felt like I was staying in an Amazon rainforest. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are spacious and well equipped. The Wood is a neo-rustic hotel filled with antiques and curiosities. I was especially taken by the magnificent stuffed peacock in the foyer, and the striking white deer caught my eye too. It’s my go-to in Surin because I can’t get enough of that entrancing peacock.

We only stayed one night, but The Wood is well placed in Surin, with markets, temples, and restaurants all within walking distance. Our room mixed natural and industrial styles in a way that worked for us. The bed, shower, and bathroom were nice, and the AC worked fine. The staff were great, friendly, and gave us dinner recommendations. Breakfast was plentiful. Whether you're passing through or staying several nights, it's a good accommodation choice. Recommended.

The dogs barking and howling from midnight into the early hours ruined what should have been a restful night. Everyone in our group woke up about every 30 minutes, with the noise carrying through the building. I had decent ear plugs, so I managed somewhat better. It was a night I'd rather forget. The Wood Hotel in Surin otherwise offers a peaceful setting, large rooms with plush beds, and friendly staff who provide excellent service. There's an in-house Thai massage, and the air conditioning is quiet but powerful, which is welcome in Thailand's heat.
