Breakfast can get busy during peak times, but everything else made for a truly wonderful five nights in February at Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa. The resort was in excellent shape, beautifully maintained, and very well organized. From arrival through departure, we felt welcome and well cared for. The atmosphere was sincere and personal, not transactional. Food and drinks were excellent, especially at Panasia and the Lido Restaurant, where both the quality and service stayed strong throughout. It was a memorable stay, and we'd happily return.

The spa was a real highlight: it’s new and has a sauna, locker room, and rest area. I went every day for treatments with the same therapist, and highly recommend Pla. They brought a different tea each time, all of it refreshing and good. There are several restaurants and a bakery on site, too. You can borrow a paddleboard for free, and I rented a bike with a helmet and rode to a nearby town. The property was quiet and very well kept. The hotel feels quite new and clean, and the staff were professional and warm. I travel internationally often, and some of them went especially far out of their way to make sure I was looked after. I really appreciated that genuine welcome. I only stayed two nights and wished I could have stayed longer.
The beach was a lovely surprise: quiet, with direct access and no boat or jetski noise. We could walk for a long time without seeing anyone, even in high season, since there are so few resorts nearby. We also liked the quiet pool, where there were no splashing kids or loud music. The resort is new and beautifully landscaped, but it's remote, about a 30-minute drive from Khao Lak. If you want calm, it suits you; if you want activities and excitement, it probably won't. We missed the wow factor for the price. As Bonvoy Gold members, we got no different treatment from first-time guests, apart from a welcome note from management at check-in. Breakfast had a nice, broad selection, but it was busy and felt impersonal. The food was tasty enough, though nothing special, and the buffet was the same through our 10-day stay with only small daily changes. We arrived in an EV and were first told charging would be free, but in the end paid a fairly high price for a slow charge. It was a solid five-star stay, but we expected more for what we paid. We've had similar five-star experiences in Thailand for half the price.
The staff made our five-day stay especially comfortable. Thanks to Khun Boom and Khun Naret from Concierge and Bellman, whose knowledge and professionalism really stood out. You both deserve the Golden Keys on your lapels. Khun Jane also made check-in easy, welcoming us politely and explaining the hotel clearly. We drove over 10 hours from Bangkok for this staycation at Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa, and it was worth the trip. The gym, pool, restaurants, and other facilities were excellent and well looked after. Kids Club staff were full of energy and engaging, and the pool team was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. We had a fantastic time and would definitely come back.
We stayed at Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa as a family. Two adults had a standard room, and two adults with a child aged 1 year and 3 months had a pool-access room. The grill restaurant on the 6th floor was the best part of the vacation, and breakfast was good with a nice range of choices. The grounds were well maintained and the views were beautiful. There were some real inconveniences, especially with a toddler. The rooms had no lidded trash bins for diapers, and the hotel didn't provide bed rails, which made sleeping arrangements more stressful. The pool by our room was so cold it was almost unusable. Room Wi-Fi was weak and unstable, and the billiards area closed at 9 p.m., which felt early for a resort. At breakfast, we also found mold in the water compartment of the coffee machine. It could work for a quiet getaway, but families with young children expecting full Marriott-level service should be ready for these issues.
