Lah Own Khaolak Resort

We didn’t stay overnight, but we walked in for the lovely seafront restaurant. The service and food were excellent.

The restaurant serves good food, but at dinner it was especially hard to get a free table without booking. Massages also need to be reserved. Staff were excellent and put in long hours. The hotel itself is very lovely, quiet, and peaceful, though breakfast could offer a little more. Sunbeds are reserved for long-stay guests, those staying over two months, and you often see the same guests using the same beds. Breakfast tables seemed to work the same way.

The garden gives the resort the feel of a small village, and it’s kept in meticulous shape. The beach is better than most in Khaolak: it isn’t too flat, so there’s no need for the ugly concrete blocks used to hold back the tide at some nearby hotels. The pool looks great and never seemed busy, though we chose the sea instead. Staff were friendly and helpful, their English was good enough to understand our requests, and the masseurs were amazing. The food was great, just check how spicy a dish is if that matters to you. Breakfast was enjoyable, even though it was the same every day. Lah Own was exactly the calm beachfront place I wanted, away from noise, crowds, and traffic while still within walking distance of Khaolak center. I loved staying here. It’s a three-star hotel, so don’t expect luxury, but I thought the quality was outstanding for that rating. The restaurant closing at 8:30 PM was my only complaint; I wish it stayed open until 9:30 PM. This is a place for resting, not a party holiday. We’ll be back. 10/10.

The grounds are thoughtfully laid out and feel safe, with sunbeds tucked among the trees just a few steps from the sea. The bungalows have what you need, though a bit of renovation would help. There’s also a very nice restaurant with excellent food and service at reasonable prices. It’s a very cozy hotel, and I’d love to return.
