Lake View Bungalows

Having morning coffee on the patio or balcony was lovely, with birdsong and cicadas making a calming soundtrack. The bed was comfortable, the rooms were nice without being fancy, and breakfast was delicious. I recommend the scrambled eggs with vegetables and bacon mixed in, the cook knows what she’s doing. It’s a charming little property, quiet and full of wildlife. If you want easy access to restaurants and beaches, you’ll need a car or scooter. The owner was a delight, and it’s a good choice if traffic noise bothers you.

Last month, while we were on a tourist excursion, our local minivan driver entered the property through an open gate to pick up guests staying there. The owner of the Bungalows rushed over within seconds, squared up to him, took the phone from his hand, and shouted in his face, calling him “Stupid” for entering private property. The driver was following instructions and trying to provide a service to the owner’s guest. The owner punched the van’s bonnet, leaned through the window, switched off the ignition while we were all inside, and kept yelling even as the driver repeatedly stepped away and apologised for his honest mistake. The owner spoke politely to the European tourists in the van, but seemed to show contempt only for the worker trying to do his job as best he could at 7am. Apparently this has happened before. If you have a choice, please consider avoiding accommodation managed by expats who show no gratitude or respect toward local people, when there are plenty of glorious places owned by Thai people instead.

Karl looked after us well, answered all our questions, and rented us a scooter for a very good price. The beach is five minutes away by scooter. Our bungalow was clean and spacious, and the garden was beautiful and well kept. We had a great time in this peaceful spot, ideal for a relaxed holiday away from noise and trouble.

Karl, the owner and host, treated me almost like family, and I felt very well cared for while I was there. The place is beautifully serene, with the beach only a five-minute bike ride away. Set beside a lake and surrounded by an orchard of trees, it offers real quiet, but it’s far from civilization, so you need a bike to get around. A lovely way to spend some quiet time with yourself.
