Takuapa Station Hotel

We had a clean room with comfortable beds and a balcony, and the location made everything easy. It’s right beside both the bus station and the market. Nothing to complain about! 😊

At 500THB, this worked for a one-night stop since the hotel shares a parking lot with the bus station. Lotus is next door, and the market and plenty of local shops are an easy walk away. The room was small, and the mattress squeaked and wasn’t comfortable. There was a kettle, body wash, hand soap, and two bottles of water. I wouldn’t stay longer: it feels set up for quick turnarounds, and the staff weren’t very helpful.

I’d planned to stay one night, but after seeing the room I decided against it. The furniture was badly worn, the beds were dirty, and the toilet was in a condition I wouldn’t use. The place gave me the impression it was mainly for short hourly bookings, an impression reinforced by furniture in the stairways. There’s no elevator, and staff communicate in English with help from Google Translate. The hotel said it couldn’t arrange a cab that day, and I felt they wanted me to stay overnight. I refused for the reasons above and got away when another hotel sent its private cab to pick me up. I’d paid 600 THB in cash, but no refund was offered at checkout. After I complained, the hotel gave the booking agency the wrong reason for my checkout and still wouldn’t refund anything.

I’ve been coming back for two nights at a time for years. The rooms are clean, modern, and minimalist, almost like a bit of art. Just after sunset, fruit bats fly overhead to feed, which feels like a taste of country life in Thailand. Behind the bus station there’s a nice dinner spot with music that stays open until 2am every night. Hard to believe.
