The Shambhala Khaolak Resort (SHA Extra Plus)

The price was the biggest disappointment. At 285 EUR a night for a seafront bungalow, it felt far too expensive for Thailand given the limited amenities, worn condition, and comfort level. The bungalow was clearly showing its age, and getting directly to the beach meant using stairs with a handrail that felt unstable and not entirely safe. Still, we generally enjoyed our time at Shambhala Khaolak Resort. The lovely owners made us feel welcome, and the peaceful atmosphere is good for relaxing away from busy tourist areas. The location is quite remote, though, so getting around is less convenient. Our seafront bungalow was acceptable, and breakfast was fine but simple. The resort has a peaceful charm and a nice beachfront setting, but renovations, better safety details, and pricing that matches what’s offered would help a lot.

The jungle-like surroundings give the place a great atmosphere, and breakfast was nice. I stayed one night and found it very relaxed, with a warm, family-friendly feel. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and it’s good value for money. Highly recommended.

We loved our beachfront bungalow. It was completely quiet when we woke up, with the sea right outside, and the sunsets were something special. It’s the kind of calm you hope to find in Khao Lak. The rooms are spacious, well maintained, and properly cleaned each day. Everything feels cared for without being over-polished. It’s also a real Thai property, with character and an easygoing, authentic feel that’s hard to find among all the generic resorts. The restaurant deserves a mention: relaxed beachfront dining, fantastic dinners, and easily the best curry we had in three weeks in Thailand. We ate there several times and it never disappointed. I almost kept this place to myself as a hidden gem, but it deserves the recognition. If you want peace, authenticity, and great food, this place delivers.

The sea-facing pool was such a relaxing spot, and the staff were always kind and ready to help. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and everything looked lovely and clean. Really good value too, we got a lot for what we paid.
