The Hotspring Beach Resort & Spa

We came for one night to soak in warm water, relax, and recharge, and that’s exactly what we got. Room service was quick and tasty, though we didn’t try the restaurants. The grounds are spacious enough for a walk or a ride on a local bike, with access to the beach and sea. The water may be unsafe during rainy season, but the scenery is still beautiful. It’s an easy place to find, not far from the bridge, and the staff were friendly and always glad to help. The hotel isn’t new, but our room was clean, roomy, and had everything we needed, from fresh linens and towels to umbrellas and slippers. We were very happy with the amenities and would gladly return.

The wild beach was my favorite part, just a five-minute walk away and absolutely gorgeous. The hotel itself is beautiful, with great pools, hot springs, an excellent spa, and outstanding food. Breakfast was good, though a little more variety would have been welcome. The staff were kind and helpful. Their English was limited, but we managed to communicate. There was also a jazz concert during the Christmas holidays, a lovely surprise. I wish we’d spent more time here with my family. Highly recommended.

We liked it enough to add a second night after checking out the first morning. We’d normally pick the cheapest room we can find, but booked here for our first night to recover from jet lag. The room was clean, comfortable, secure, and had a beautiful view, a good shower and air conditioning, plus a nice range of toiletries. The pools were the best part. They’re pretty and laid out so you don’t feel surrounded by people, even when it’s busy. There are two hot spring pools at 42-46°, a large regular pool with a bar, and a cool pool that’s apparently 16°. We weren’t brave enough to try that one. The pool bar stayed peaceful, with no loud partying. The gardens and scenery were beautiful and well cared for, and there’s plenty to explore, including the river and beach. The restaurants looked lovely and the food was delicious, though it cost 2-5 times more than in some budget areas. Breakfast was included and had a great selection. The staff were all lovely and helped make the stay such a good experience. Thank you!

During our 21-night stay, the sewage smell around several areas, including by the hot springs, was a constant problem and sometimes put us off. The hotel also lets busloads of day visitors use the facilities, and twice a day the resident guests can be swamped by hundreds of people. There aren’t enough toilets, sunbeds, or room for the outside visitors. Minibuses and coaches park beside the only road through the property, making it hard for guests with cars to get around. Tour companies such as Anex and Pegas bring hundreds of people a day, and the hotel seems unbothered. I understand wanting to earn money from day passes, but the hotel needs to consider the people staying there. Day passes for people arriving in their own cars seem fine; coachloads are not. The place is beautiful, but I can’t recommend visiting, even for the day, with the crowding, and I wouldn’t suggest booking a room. The hotel needs to rethink its priorities and focus on its overnight guests.
