Sangtong Resort

The pool was magnificent, very clean and seemed quite new. It was covered, with a retractable roof you operate by hand. It was 42 degrees Celsius every day at the moment. The rooms were okay, though a little dated, and even the top-of-the-line one was only 700 Baht a night.

We've stayed here too, and the rooms are quite dated. The staff are friendly, but the manager could learn to smile, especially at the Land of Smiles. We've swum here many times this year, but today they said our shorts weren't acceptable, even though we'd worn the same ones on every visit. Poolside eating and drinking is supposedly not allowed, yet we've seen many Thai people doing it. The pool is meant to open at 09:00, but we've often had to wait until 10:00 because it wasn't ready.

Good value at 500-800 baht a night, and highly recommended. The resort is nicely kept, with friendly staff and good facilities. There's a clean, shaded pool and a mini mart, plus spacious, clean rooms with modern furnishings and TVs.

The pool area is as good as any I've stayed at, and the rooms are clean and very quiet. I've been here a couple of times over the last few years, and it gets better each time. The staff are friendly too. It could use a restaurant, then it would be five star. Better get in soon, because prices are sure to rise.
