Those two pretty beaches by the river mouth make for a dreamy setting, surrounded by stunning forest. It feels like a lovely place to spend a few nights. The cabins are pretty bare-bones, which may suit you if you like a spartan bungalow. For our family, some basic needs weren’t covered. We’d reserved a baby cot months ahead, but what we got was a hardwood board for a mattress. That just wasn’t good enough. The staff, service, and amenities were fine. There’s a lot of potential here, but it hasn’t been fully realized yet.

We spent six nights at Poseidon Bungalows over Christmas and New Year, and even in high season the beaches nearby stayed quiet. There are several restaurants and Thai massage places right on the beach, all within walking distance. It’s about 7 km south of the main Khao Lak town. The bungalows are simple, but had everything we needed, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We’d definitely like to come back.

We ended up trying both room types after booking at the last minute: the 600baht room without AC and the 1500baht one with AC. Both were lovely, spotless, and comfortable, and the prices felt very fair for the area. We would’ve stayed another night in the cheaper room, but it was already booked. No surprise, since this place is popular for good reason. The people here made our stay especially nice. The lady owner was so kind, and helped my husband with a small injury he’d gotten before we arrived. The restaurant staff were just as sweet. Khun Pim checked us in and treated me like a princess. She’s such a lovely person. Breakfast was delicious and really good quality for the price. You can also get laundry done for 80B/k or rent a scooter for 250B/day, which is a great price for the bike. There are adorable cats and a lovely dog around, too. We were so happy to meet everyone at Poseidon team. We’ll be back and will recommend it to our friends! 💖💖💖
