Akra Collection Layan Hideaway Resort

I celebrated my birthday here with my boyfriend, and staying at Akra Collection Layan – Hideaway Villas was a memorable experience. The villa is beautifully designed and gives you privacy, comfort, and a lovely connection with nature. It was peaceful and just right for a relaxing break by the pool. Miss Aye at reception made check-in smooth and pleasant, and the welcome drink was fresh. Miss Na and Mr. Min Bin were also very friendly and provided great service. It was a perfect place for a special occasion, and I’d highly recommend it for a tranquil, luxurious stay.

The food was delicious, and it was easy to get to the property. The room was exceptionally clean, with beautiful nature all around, making it a peaceful place to get away. Everyone on staff was welcoming and very friendly during my visit. I had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it.

I’m an introvert and was happy to sit peacefully with my laptop, either resting or working. The cabin is quite far out, with no 7-11 nearby, but outside food and drinks are allowed, so you can bring supplies. There’s a full kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator, and boiler, and you can wash your own dishes. The private pool and breakfast were nice, and the two-bedroom cabin worked well for me as a solo traveler. I also liked the bedroom sunroof for watching stars in the dark. It’s on a hill, so you can take a walk or jog in the morning or evening.

The villas are genuinely beautiful, with very well-done interiors, but the property was poorly managed and disappointing. Although marketed as private, neighboring villas were clearly visible from the pool and windows. The hotel added a curtain, which blocked the views and defeated the point of booking a private pool villa. The pool itself was poorly maintained, with visible green algae or fungal buildup. Housekeeping messaged us on WhatsApp about supposedly missing towels that were in the closet, before checkout, which felt unnecessary and inappropriate. At checkout, housekeeping entered while we were still inside to look for missing items, leaving us uncomfortable and feeling distrusted. There were no common facilities beyond reception, and all meals were served in the room. Breakfast wasn’t included despite the high room rate, and cost far more than at many five-star hotel buffets. The hotel is extremely isolated, with no nearby shops or services and no transport except one limited daily beach shuttle, which was very inconvenient. Staff spoke very little English and made no effort to resolve or follow up on our concerns. At night, only one staff member was on duty, with no English, so check-in was extremely difficult and handled through gestures and Google Translate. We also had a complete power outage during our stay, which required staff intervention.
