Villa Tha Maphrao

We loved our stay so much that we extended it. Villa the Maphrao is tucked into the greenery of Thalang, with tall palm trees and a lovely view over the bright blue pool. It felt like a peaceful retreat, well away from the busy world, and the room was spotless, with thoughtful extras like a lockbox and towels. The wide, comfortable bed felt like home, and the price seemed very fair for what we got. Breakfast was a lovely start to our restful days. Peter and Oi were warm, helpful hosts and quick to respond to questions. The location worked well for exploring the island by scooter or on organized tours, and the airport was about a 15-minute drive away. Thanks for such a memorable holiday!

The quiet hillside setting, clean pool, and spotless rooms made this a relaxing place to stay. We chose Villa Tha Maphrao because it was only about 15 minutes from the airport for our flight the next day, and we didn't notice any planes overhead. It turned out to offer much more than a convenient location. After a long trip, Peter made us feel welcome and comfortable. He'd had trouble reaching me beforehand to confirm our arrival time and dietary needs, so keep an eye out for his emails. We enjoyed a complimentary drink from the bar and a refreshing swim in the perfectly warm pool, then had a delicious dinner freshly cooked by Peter's wife, Oi. Breakfast was great too. It was a wonderful way to finish our holiday before flying home. We were especially grateful for the late checkout and being able to use our room and the pool until it was time to leave that night. You took such good care of us!

Oi's cooking was one of the best parts of our stay. The food was delicious, breakfast was generous, and after Peter asked what we liked when we arrived, dish after dish appeared the next morning. We spent three days at Villa Tha Maphro in early December 2017, during a two-week trip to Thailand. The guest rooms open onto a beautiful infinity pool, and they're spacious, nicely decorated, with luxurious baths. Peter and his wife Oi were lovely hosts who helped arrange tours, massages, rides, and whatever else we needed. The villa is north of Phuket's busier areas, so it was peaceful and also convenient for the airport. We did a full-day city tour, went sea kayaking with John Gray another day, and during our half day after settling in, visited a local park for its waterfalls and the Gibbon Rehabilitation center. I was disappointed to miss my massage because our extended tour ran long. We had packed too much in and didn't leave enough time to enjoy the villa's relaxing setting.

The owners were incredibly friendly, and the food was the best I've tried in Thailand after two years here. The pool was surprisingly huge, the rooms fresh and clean, and there were birds and gorgeous PALM TREES 😀😀😀😀. Thank you, wonderful owners 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏. 100/10!!!
