We came for the snorkeling, and there was plenty to explore straight from shore. The marine life was surprisingly rich, the coral reefs still healthy, and we didn't need to book a boat tour. Libong Beach Resort is on a long, nearly untouched beach with a small island right out front. Come evening, the sky turns gold, pink and deep orange, with some of the best sunsets we've seen in Thailand. This is more about the setting, peace and authenticity than luxury. The atmosphere is calm, with very few people. There's just one neighboring hotel on either side, then nature. A small fishing village is within walking distance for restaurants, scooter rental and essentials. It's a family-run place with genuinely warm, personal service. Most of the time, you hear waves, birds and wind instead of traffic. The beds are extremely firm, European-back-level firm. The first night might make you question your life choices, but by night three you're weirdly okay with it 😄. Breakfast is simple and not huge, but enough. The food is good and reasonably priced, and the room rates are more than fair. For this price, setting, snorkeling and atmosphere, it's an easy five stars. We'd definitely return.

The staff were good and the rooms were clean, but the manager/owner was extremely rude and unhelpful. We waited more than two hours for our room, even though we'd been told it would be ready in 30 minutes, and nobody apologized. The whole resort also needs maintenance.

We didn't stay in the accommodation, but we were at Andalay next door. We liked this bar and restaurant much more because there weren't children everywhere. Prices were good, too.

The view from the terrace was lovely, though a strangely placed plank sat right at eye level when you were in the chair and partly spoiled it. The staff were nice, and the place itself is obviously amazing. I'd spent 10 nights at Le Dugong resort next door, a 5/5 experience, before moving over for a few more nights to Libong Beach bungalow B1 (green roof). This year the two resorts had somehow merged together. Sadly, the bungalow fell short in some ways. Others have already described the poor condition of these huts, and I agree. They need serious renovation or to be rebuilt. The bed was the absolute worst I've ever slept in, and I've stayed in a LOT of places.

The beach is lovely and stretches on for ages, but there were no chairs or beds to sit and relax on. We would have moved elsewhere if we could, but the island is very small and everywhere else was booked during peak season. Our room smelled awful and needs a complete renovation. There was mould everywhere, including in the bathroom, holes in the floor leading outside, ants all over, see-through curtains and paper-thin walls. We could hear the neighbors word for word. Breakfast had flies all over it, with no covers on the food. The kitchen was mostly outdoors, and we saw chicken being cut on a wooden board covered in flies. There was no housekeeping, and we had to ask for water every day. Housekeeping wouldn't have fixed the state of the room anyway. We've travelled around the world and stayed in all kinds of places. This doesn't count as rustic, it's just horrible. Maybe some rooms have been renovated and we got unlucky, but based on ours, I wouldn't recommend it.
