Basar Guest House

I stopped here to get a taste of local life before crossing to the island and spending the day as a tourist. The peaceful spot and charming wooden house gave me a real chance to rest and enjoy the tropical, local feel. I especially liked the open-air shower room. The owner was very welcoming, and the place was clean, comfortable, and cheap. One of my favorite guesthouses in Thailand.

You can have breakfast or dinner in the little garden, enjoy a refreshing drink, or just relax and listen to the birds singing. Basar Guesthouse is simple, but incredibly charming, and the staff are kind and helpful, which makes you feel comfortable. The rooms are simple too, yet charming and very clean. They provide mosquito nets to protect you while you sleep. It’s a little oasis that feels welcoming and homely.

Tum is a special host. The place is very clean, and she cooks lovely food. I also really like the decoration, she has a very good eye for it. My favorite part is the bathrooms. They don’t have doors, which makes them distinctive. Western visitors might find that weird, but it’s easy to treat what’s familiar in your own country as normal and something different elsewhere as wrong. Thanks, Tum. Whenever I visit, I feel like I’m somewhere familiar.

We stayed 3 nights at Basar and felt right at home. The food was very good and cheap, and the staff were kind and nice. Our room had a beautiful classic style, was comfortable and clean, and came with a private bathroom. A perfect place to spend some time in Trat.
