Centara Chaan Talay Resort & Villas, Trat

The room was clean, though it looked old, and the dark toilet could use some work. Even just renovating the roof and toilet would make it feel better. I loved the a la carte breakfast, dinner, and cocktails. The staff were good at giving guests privacy and staying out of the way. The cats and dogs are lovely, too. With its private beach, beautiful sea, and clear skies, it’s such a good place to relax, read, and play with the cats. I loved this hotel and miss it! 10/10 for the beach and setting, 9/10 for the food, 10/10 for service, and 7/10 for the room.

The waves, peaceful feel, and warm smiles from the staff are what I’ll remember most. Their hospitality made my time here meaningful. I stayed at this resort longer than at most places, and I’ll keep it in my fond memories. Bye-bye, Centara Chaan Talay… 🤍

The restaurant was lovely, with excellent food, and the staff were very helpful. Dinner service could be slow, though. The beach is beautiful but narrow, so it’s impossible to walk far along the sand. It’s a dog-friendly resort. I spent 10 days in a sea-view family room. It was spacious, but like the resort itself it felt dated. I hated the old bathroom, which was open to the outside and let mosquitoes and other insects into the room easily. Some places were dirty. I’d return only if the price were low. It doesn’t live up to the “Centara “ brand.

The gardens are beautiful, and the beach is one of the most spectacular in eastern Thailand. It’s good for kids, doesn’t cost much, and feels worth the price. You don’t need to go to Koh Chang for great beaches. I’ve stayed here at least three times, more than 10 years ago, when the place was quite new. Now it looks aged, and the rooms still have a bit of a musty smell, though that’s to be expected in a tropical beach forest setting. They used to have organised kids’ activities, but I don’t think they do now. The hotel feels a bit forgotten for a Centara property. Central is a huge wealthy company, so come on, spend some money on the renovations it needs.
