Breakfast was the best part of my stay, and it was included. I was only there overnight before catching the ferry to Koh Chang, which is about as long as I’d suggest staying. There’s no restaurant or bar, though the fridge has beer and soft drinks for sale. Not much is nearby either. The local bar didn’t open until 18:00, so I took a taxi to a restaurant on the river, which is actually called a canal. The place seems overhyped on booking apps, so go in with modest expectations.

The place has a calm, relaxing feel, and the staff are friendly. Rooms are lovely and clean. Free bikes are available when they haven’t all been taken, and it’s about a five-minute ride into the town center. The Mediterranean look is a little artificial and kitschy, but they’ve made it work.

The location is a few kilometers from central Trat, with little nearby in the way of shops or restaurants. I wouldn’t recommend staying here until there’s a major makeover, and I wouldn’t come back myself. The room decor feels dated and shabby, with cheap-looking bits of folk art and other clutter. Outside, the mildew-stained walls look much worse than the booking-site photos suggest. My bathroom ceiling was heavily stained by water and mildew too. The counter beside the sink was missing, leaving a rusty sharp piece of metal and black, mildewed caulk behind. Breakfast was just fair, though there is a coffee machine. If you’re mainly coming for the pool, be aware of the rest.

The pool is small and cute, and it was very clean. My room was roomy, clean, and cozy, with a comfortable bed and plenty of outlets. The bathroom has a window into the room with a curtain, which seems perfect for couples. The lighting and decorations create a mellow, welcoming feel, and at this price I was impressed by the attention to detail. Staff were helpful and friendly.

The room was okay for a night, even though it didn’t face the pool. The staff I encountered the next day were better, but the first day put me off returning. When I arrived, I greeted the receptionist in Thai and she completely ignored me. She didn’t even look at me while my girlfriend spoke with her. I asked about breakfast, which the online listing described as optional, and was told there was none. It was probably the worst service interaction I’ve had at a hotel.
