Trat City Hotel

I had a good stay at this centrally located hotel in Trat. My Studio double room was 21 square meters and had a good bathroom. The price was 920 THB including breakfast on a Sunday. There’s also a restaurant and Fitness room, plus a swimming pool that I didn’t try because of the rainy weather. Parking is available in front of the hotel.

I used Trat as a base for visiting the nearby islands, and this hotel worked really well for that. Breakfast runs from 6 to 10 and there’s plenty of it. Hapa restaurant was especially good for Thai food, and the outdoor seating has a nice feel. The gym is fairly well equipped and looks out over the lovely pool. The photos online are accurate, so I didn’t bother taking my own. Everything seemed well managed and staffed.

Famed and Attha gave us excellent service and really went out of their way to help. We also had a great buffet breakfast, with good options for vegetarians. The bed was cosy, the shower was fantastic, and the air conditioning worked great. Even though it’s close to the bus station and an easy walk into town, the hotel sits on a side road and was really quiet.

I can’t recommend this hotel. The staff at reception watched the problem but wouldn’t ask a driver to park just 50 metres farther along the property. When I asked for the manager, I was told, “he is in bangkok.” Apparently he’s five hours away, and the staff seem capable only of handing out room keys. Buses parked right beneath my balcony at 7:30 in the morning with their engines running while guides gathered passengers, so there was no chance of sleeping. Roosters from the local people next door also woke me in the early hours and in the afternoon.
