Chatsuree Boutique Resort

Around the hotel there isn’t much touristy stuff, though you’ll find some restaurants, bars and pubs, plus a 7-Eleven. One friend arranged a great first night for me with good food and company. The next night I went out by myself, found a place across the street from the 7-Eleven with a Heineken promotion, and got pretty drunk. I made it back to the hotel around midnight! 🤪 I spent three days in Ubon and hardly saw anyone besides locals. The hotel was reasonably priced and a bit vintage, kind of old-school, but I had a good stay. I barely spoke with the staff since my Thai friends handled almost everything, though today I walked to reception to get coffee before we drove back to Prathai, Korat, where my friend lives now. It was a proper cup of Nescafe Instant coffee! 😋 The hospitality seemed great from what I experienced. And I have to praise Thai mattresses: they’re rock hard, but with my back issues I sleep considerably better on them than on soft European mattresses. I simply love them!

No service at all. The property looks very nice, but there weren’t any customers, which seemed strange until we found out why. They don’t provide toilet paper or shampoo for the shower. When we called the service counter to say there was no toilet paper, the receptionist told us to come get it ourselves.

It’s clean and near the bus station, and there’s a big aviary with parrots out front. They wake up at dawn and make sure you know it, which is nice if you’re an early riser, but not for me. The rooms aren’t very soundproof either, so you hear other guests coming and going quite loudly when they’re nearby, especially in an adjoining room.

The rooms are beautifully designed with comfort and relaxation in mind, and the place is clean and quiet. The staff are lovely and helpful. It’s also close to the bus station, a 7-11, restaurants and other places.
