Phadaeng Hotel

Pha Daeng is my favorite hotel, and Ubon is my favorite city in all of Issan. I've stayed here perhaps 20-25 times, including four visits this year. It's a comfortable, easygoing place where I feel safe and relaxed, and it's my base in Northeast Thailand. Across the street there's an abundant buffet, plus a delicious Chiang Mai style noodle shop. There's also a recently opened, high brow Western style restaurant at mid range prices. I had squid ink pasta with squid covered in salted egg yolk there.

The atmosphere feels cool, solid, and very much our style. If you love art and want a safe place to stay, here you are. Thanks so much for giving me shelter. I've been here for one week. The walk-in rate is cheaper than the websites. Need a beer at 3 am? Reception will even give you one at a local price. Khop khun krab, thank you very much. 311 500 Glad. Five stars!

The location is good, the rooms are clean, and the staff are friendly. I come here whenever I'm in Ubon.

For 500 baht, you get a lot of space and useful facilities: cupboards, hanging space, a desk area, a good-sized bathroom, and a small balcony with a sink for washing and hanging clothes. The towels and bedding are good quality, and everything was very clean. The hotel feels bright and airy, with copies of artworks from Michelangelo to Monet displayed on the walls. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and the rooms were made up daily. Breakfast was basic, just toast and coffee.
