Aneto Valley Resort

I only came hoping for dinner somewhere nice, so two stars feels about right. The location and view from the rooms seemed lovely when I walked around, and staying overnight to catch the rooftop view might be okay. Dinner here, though, was a definite no for me. The road in was awful. Once you turn off the main street, the surface feels like the moon, and I wouldn't take a city car down it. If you care about your car, use a 4WD. I saw signs advertising good steak and ordered just a beef steak. I was the only diner there. The meat was so-so quality, dry and not juicy, and they served it well done without asking. Even at that doneness it was still too dry, rough on the first bite, and really sticky. It wasn't worth the baht I paid. The fries were fresh and crispy, at least. The salad was a letdown: fresh vegetables, but the dressing tasted oddly sour, almost fermented. When I mentioned it, they said other guests liked it.

The road to the resort is extremely rough, and it was noisy. For this price, the food and breakfast were just so-so.

A lovely, peaceful setting with kind staff and some mischievous sheep. The road there was the one downside, it was in poor condition.

The view is good, but getting there means dealing with a bad road.
