Velawarin Hotel

The room felt just like home and was really good. Breakfast was both tasty and inexpensive. The hotel has an interesting history about the neighborhood, and there are lots of street art pieces to see nearby. We'd read comments about noise, but decided to stay for the typical Thai house experience and were glad we did. It's close to the train station, with parking available if you come by car. A stop worth making when visiting Ubon.

I felt lucky to be at VelaWarin on the day of the Boy Sirichai fan meet. The songs were lovely and welcoming, and it was great to have an activity in such a cosy setting. There was also the last day festival, only a five-minute walk away beside the train station or sport arena. Khun Bee, the host, clearly puts a lot of effort into making guests' stays special. Hearing his stories about the building was touching, and I really appreciated how personal he was. He even made a guest's birthday feel special, which I enjoyed. Get breakfast too, you'll be full until well into the afternoon. I only managed lunch around 2pm and nearly missed my favourite pork leg restaurant. Khun Bee also gives helpful tips on what to try, and I'd absolutely recommend that. Between the heritage building, lovely café, and cosy Warin museum, it's easy to spend a lazy morning inside the hotel.

It's a beautiful hotel with a little wear and tear, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The station is an easy five-minute walk away. I came on the night train from Bangkok and checked in super early, but they let me go straight to my room. I'd definitely recommend it if you want somewhere with character and a different feel.

I've stayed at the velawarin three times now, once on my own and this time with a friend. I love the hotel's old-meets-new feel, but the staff's kindness and helpfulness matter even more to me. Thanks so much kha. I'd recommend it and will keep coming back.
