Fuangfoo Hotel

On our scooter trip from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, this turned out to be a really enjoyable stop. The lady who showed us around was kind and very nice, and her English was quite good. We chose the newer, more modern room for 400 baht; the older rooms were 350 baht. Our room was sparkling clean, and the bed had been sanitized. It came with a large double bed, TV, AC, electric kettle, plates, glasses, mugs, and a table with two chairs. Towels, body soap, and shampoo were provided too. I watched the lady clean other rooms and would give her four thumbs up for how clean she keeps the place. Each room has its own terrace with a table and chairs, and there’s a spacious parking lot. She also pointed out the wet market, where you can find food, vegetables, meat, and fruit at local prices. Wat Phrathat Monday Phrachao Lai is nearby too, and very beautiful.

The room looked nice and was clean, and it cost 400 baht a night. I’d gone in with high expectations after reading the reviews, though. The noise around me went on constantly, from the main roads with cars and motorbikes, or from the next room, and it made this the worst night I’ve ever had. The air conditioner smelled really bad, so I couldn’t use it, and there wasn’t a fan in the room. Sadly, I can’t recommend the place.

We’ve spent the past three months cycling around Thailand and staying in places like this, and this one has been the best by far. The room was lovely, new, clean, and well equipped, and it was only 400 baht. They even brought a cute little breakfast snack. Superb gaff.
