Soro Hotel

The host was the highlight for us: so kind, helpful, and always smiling that we felt at home. The hotel is close to the city center, so getting around on foot was easy. Our room was very clean and well cared for. We had a wonderful stay and would happily come back next time.

When I was heading to Samarkand after checking out, the owner arranged a taxi to the shared taxi stand, which made the onward trip much easier. He was also kind and patient with my questions, explaining things and sharing lots of useful information during my stay at Soro Hotel in Dushanbe. His help made my trip more enjoyable. I really appreciated the hospitality and would stay here again.

The staff were warm, and the room was somewhat clean. That's about all I can praise. For $50, twice what better nearby options cost, I expected more. They didn't provide bottled water or a toiletry kit, and there was one dirty glass. The outlets were awkwardly placed, with no universal adapter tap. Water pressure kept changing, the private double room bathroom felt cramped, and the walls were thin. The location was inconvenient for city sights, and it took a 30-minute walk just to find a convenience store for water. They don't provide water, by the way. The worst part was at 10 a.m., well before checkout, when someone knocked and immediately walked into my room. No regard for privacy at all. Imagine starting your day that way. If you've booked here, make sure you bring water.

The family running the hotel went out of their way for guests, even picking us up from the airport at 3 a.m. Breakfast was freshly made each morning, with a nice range of salads, appetizers, dishes, and fruit. It was probably the best breakfast we had during our two weeks traveling around Tajikistan. We stayed two nights and were very happy with the value. The hotel is clean, and the rooms are modern, roomy, and well maintained. It's in central Dushanbe within walking distance of the main attractions. We'd definitely stay again if we return.
