We only needed a quick overnight stay, and it was fine, but this cost twice as much as the six other two- or three-bedroom apartments we booked in Tunisia, even though those were also booked late. At this price, I expected more, though we couldn't find a cheaper option. We booked the two-bedroom apartment at the last minute and didn't get breakfast, perhaps because of the late booking. Maybe for the same reason, we can forgive the old bread in the bread box and the dirty fridge. Parking out front was easy, and it was quiet. The host was very kind and brought two extra towels right away when we asked, since there was only one for two guests.

We had a really nice stay in el kef. The host was lovely and always available when we had questions. The rooms were comfortable, and the air conditioner kept them cool.

It's a convenient base for visiting Dougga and Bulla Regia, and you can park right out front on the street. The place was clean, had the basic amenities, and the host was very friendly. For 180 TND a night, though, I expected more care with the details. Warm water came and went, and the only heater was in the living room, where it needed a break every few hours. The front door only stays shut when locked, and it and the windows let in drafts. The curtains only help a little. We had just one small towel, and the beds were quite hard, with a strange mix of sheets. I guess this may be the usual local standard.

Don't book! The house had no working TV, iron, washing machine, or refrigerator. The rooster woke me at 5 am, and it was very, very expensive. He even turned off my AC in the morning because I'd switched it on during the night 😂
