Laico Hammamet Hotel

They charged me extra at check-in for a “tax,” despite the fact that I had already paid all the taxes when booking. That really wasn't okay. The sheets were dirty and housekeeping never changed them during my stay. There were insects around, the service was bad, and the old, broken furniture looked like it hadn't been replaced in years. This can't be called a five-star hotel, two stars at best. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us, and the pool is lovely. I was mainly looking for a week of sitting by the pool and reading, so the hotel did what I needed. Still, if this were your only holiday of the year, I think you'd be disappointed. The buffet was the same every day, and some dishes were cold or only lukewarm even when we arrived at opening time. The rooms are dated and a bit grubby. From the mixed reviews, I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but by Western standards this is three-star at most, not five. It was okay for what I wanted.

The food was low quality, poorly prepared, and not worth the price. The rooms were dirty, dated and badly maintained, and there was an unpleasant smell, especially in the lobby. Service felt unprofessional and unhelpful from the start. Even basic cleanliness, comfort and hospitality standards weren't met. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're after a pleasant, restful trip.

I ended up leaving a day early because of the poor conditions and bad management. The room wasn't clean, the service fell far short of what I expected, and I didn't feel comfortable or safe there. A very disappointing stay. I wouldn't recommend it.
