La Kasbah

We came as part of a tour group and were happy with the stay. The hotel is right in the city and full of culture. The staff were helpful and always smiling, and the Tunisian cuisine was perfect, just like Turkish food.

For what we paid, the service fell short, and the experience was disappointing for the newly married couple who stayed there. Some of their belongings went missing. When we asked, the receptionist was rude, said nothing had been found, and didn't try to help or even take our phone number in case the item turned up later. At the entrance, a staff member also asked to inspect our personal bags by hand. For a five-star hotel, having no proper scanning or security machine and making guests open up their belongings felt shameful and unprofessional. The whole stay lacked basic customer service and didn't match the price.

My room was on the top floor, and there was a musty smell as soon as the elevator opened, maybe from the carpet. The floor in the room was filthy, like it hadn't been swept, and the toilet smelled strongly of urine. I asked the front desk to have the floor cleaned, but it seemed they ignored me. A machine kept making noise above my room all night, so I couldn't sleep. The hotel feels old and badly needs a complete renovation.

A beautifully restored castle with an authentic Tunisian look. The rooms have tiled walls and wood, and there are interesting shared rooms. The location is great, just cross the street to reach the Medina.
