Caribbean World Mahdia

The food tasted fine, though I’d have liked more variety. The main restaurant also gets chaotic at busy times, especially with large groups of local guests. And outside the hotel, I wish people in Tunisia were more careful about littering in the city and on the beach. I had a wonderful stay at Caribbean World Mahdia. Its traditional Arabic style gives the huge property real charm, with lovely paths, palm trees, colorful flowers, and spotless grounds that always smelled fresh. I arrived around 7 a.m. and had a room by 10. My quiet room in Sector B had a partial sea view, smelled of flowers, and was cleaned every day. The beach was a highlight, with warm, clear water, soft sand, and lots of activities. Lifeguards, security, and tourist police were present, and it felt safe. I could leave my phone, money, or other things on a beach lounger without anyone touching them. The whole hotel felt secure and respectful. The animation team kept busy all day with activities for different ages, then put on a nice show each evening. The water slides were fun for the day, too. The hotel is close to the Medina of Mahdia, a beautiful historic city worth a visit, and shopping and local experiences nearby are inexpensive. A useful tip for Tunisia: you can buy 30 GB of mobile internet at the airport for about 12 euros. It’s a lovely place for a relaxing beach holiday, and I’d happily come back.

The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the food is good with plenty of variety, though the dining room can get overcrowded on weekends. The check-in needs work: there was a long wait, no line, and the whole thing was a disaster. I’d put the hotel at about 3.5 to 4 stars.

Most of the hotel staff are fine, though many seem to treat you better if you speak a language other than Arabic. Sometimes you say “salamu alaikum” and get no reply, but say “hey” and they give you a big smile. Management is very bad, especially at reception. The reception manager is rude, unprofessional, and impolite. I wonder how he’s still in such a sensitive role. Reception is the first point of contact for customers, and a bad experience there can really hurt the hotel’s reputation.

I especially liked the “relax pool,” which was super clean and quiet. There are three pools in all, and the beach water is crystal clear. The location is amazing, the food is generally good and in line with Tunisian hotels, and the service is great. People there are generally friendly. We had a great stay, and I’m definitely coming back.
