We explored the area ourselves, because otherwise I’d have been bored out of my mind. Some guests may like the place, but I didn’t. It felt like wasted money, and I’d never book this hotel again or choose Monarque again. The beach and sea were great, with plenty of loungers and no trouble finding a spot. The water was hot and the pool was large and warm. Staff were okay and liked to chat, but service was slow and there were queues for everything. It took two days to get soap. The nonstop noise ran from 9:00 to 23:00. I woke up from the heat and couldn’t sleep at night because of the racket. All the rooms face inward around the half-circle building, towards the pool, sea and small stage. The evening show repeated the same children’s songs and playlist every day, a horrible mix of 90s pop and Czech stars like Lucie Bílá. The animators reused one basic weekly program, with little effort to get people involved. It was boring and low energy. At another hotel last year, the animators were like rocket mice and we never got bored. The place is extremely basic across the board: rooms, equipment, food and entertainment. Meals were plain and repetitive, and the drinks tasted like cheap alcohol mixed with soda. It’s not mentioned anywhere that the hotel caters to Czechs and Poles, but in reality it was 99% Czech and Polish seniors, along with a few families and couples like us. Had I known, I wouldn’t have booked. This is more like a slightly better hostel, and it doesn’t deserve four stars.

The beach and pools were nice, but by 10 a.m. all the loungers were taken, so be prepared to get up early. The excursion sellers kept pestering us and wouldn’t leave us alone, even after repeated refusals. Some waiters and chefs were genuinely kind and hardworking, and the animation team tried their best. Still, the program was repetitive, with the same music and quizzes every night, mostly for older Czech and Polish guests. Music around the main stage and pool was so loud it was hard to relax. Freshly made pancakes at the snack bar were a nice touch, though the rest of the snacks weren’t great. The location was poor, with nowhere nearby to explore, so we felt stuck on the hotel grounds. Food was very disappointing: salads looked old, flies were around the buffet, and some meat was undercooked. Nothing was labeled, and even finding glasses, plates or cutlery could be a challenge. There were only a few salt shakers for the whole restaurant. Our room had no working air conditioning. A power cut took staff around six hours to fix, and the TV was unusable because the channel signal kept cutting out. Wi-Fi barely worked, with no signal in the room and only a weak connection by reception. There was broken glass on the restaurant terrace next to the children’s playground. We told several staff during breakfast, but it was still there by dinner, so we warned parents ourselves. The lobby bar had a horrible smell like sewage or a broken fridge, noticeable even outside. The drinks were poor too, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, with fake spirits and overly artificial soft drinks. The à la carte restaurant served what seemed like reheated buffet food and undercooked beef, with the same menu each time. Getting fruit from the restaurant for my child was treated like stealing, and we were directed to the snack bar leftovers instead. We left very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this all-inclusive hotel unless food hygiene, maintenance and guest service improve significantly.

The location is convenient, close to the train station, and the beach-facing balcony gave us a magical sunrise view. We had a sea-view room for two, with reasonable space, a bathtub and a separate toilet. It was clean, though the room design and overall decor felt simple and dated. The corridors need more attention, especially the carpets, which should be replaced. There’s a medium-sized outdoor pool, water games and an indoor pool. The animation team and café staff were great, and the receptionist was professional, cheerful and welcoming. The restaurant had a good dining area and a decent, if not huge, selection. The food was generally good for what we paid. I stayed one night on October 11th. It was a good experience overall, with a few things that could be improved. I’d recommend giving the hotel a try.

The staff and service have been a highlight from the start. Everyone has been incredibly friendly, welcoming to locals and tourists alike, and always ready to help. The hotel is kept very clean, and the rooms are spacious, just like the photos, with a TV, fridge and air conditioning. The TV seems new, despite what I’d read in reviews. The beach is right there, with very clean sand, clear water and plenty of loungers. There were lots of jellyfish, though, which seems pretty standard for Tunisian waters this year. Food has a varied selection of seafood, meat and chicken, with something for everyone, at least from my point of view. We only arrived today, but so far everything from the rooms and service to the location and food has impressed us.

Just one night here, but it was a great stay. The room was clean, the atmosphere cozy, and there was a good range of delicious food. I’d highly recommend the hotel. It’ll be closed for reconstruction from November to March 2026.
