Thalassa Mahdia

The entertainment team were brilliant with us, but the hotel itself didn't give us much help. We were there from 26th December to 5th January, and had to chase everything ourselves. Some guests got information and others didn't, and we had to ask before we got even half of it. The location's a little out of the way. The beach is there, but there wasn't much else to do or see. For the price, I expected more, so I wouldn't recommend it to British visitors.

The staff working on entertainment were amazing, easily five stars for them. The food was okay, and the cleaning lady did a great job, but the hotel itself is in rough shape and barely feels like three stars, let alone four. It needs a deep clean and renovation. There's sand in the room, balcony corners, and windows, dust on the lamps and TV, stains on the taps, and mold in all the grout. The pool tiles are old, some drain grates are broken, and the water is dirty. The woman at the indoor pool was really rude. We paid extra for a sea view, and got the one shown in the video. At the snack bar after lunch, the wait for pancakes or sandwiches can reach 20 minutes. They limit you to two pieces of food, so a mother with three kids has to queue again after taking two portions back. If they're closing by the time you reach the front, you get nothing. Drinks are quick if you go get them, but otherwise you can wait up to 10 minutes for a waiter to appear. English is in short supply. French and Italian guests seem to get treated much better, and staff mostly speak French.

The food was brilliant, so good that I'm coming back. The place is a bit dated, sure, but it's perfectly clean.
