Djerba Holiday Beach Hotel

I was with my wife and our 1 year old daughter and tried to book 3 nights, but they wouldn’t even let me in. I’m a decent, respectful person, and the man at the main entrance was very unprofessional. After several attempts, he told us to park outside and walk about 400 meters to the reception to book. Hotel administration, put professional people at the entrance or you’ll get a bad reputation.

The beach is just 10 meters away, with hotel security, free sun loungers, and a full bar for hotel guests. The sea water was so hot, unlike any I’ve experienced before. The building is beautiful, with amazing architecture, and the pool is enormous, with a great, practical pool bar. Staff were very kind and polite. There are some downsides. The old hotel has no elevator, and the corridors leading to the rooms get very hot. The rooms are okay, but could use a fridge and better air conditioning.

We had a good rest, enjoyed the sun and sea, and liked the resort’s friendly atmosphere. I’d rate the holiday positively, though it didn’t leave us speechless or keen to book again right away. I don’t regret going and wouldn’t rule out returning. The beach right by the resort was beautiful and sandy, with hotel security. Vendors who tried to sell trips or souvenirs were asked to leave, so we weren’t disturbed. It felt safe and gave us peace of mind. The location itself was quiet and peaceful, about 20 minutes from the airport, which was handy after a long journey. Our daughter adored the animation team, who were amazing and ran daily activities like pool exercises, pétanque, darts, and foam parties. There was always something to do, though most of the team didn’t speak English well, so communication could be tricky. Restaurant staff and bartenders mostly focused on French-speaking guests. We eventually found a few bartenders who were friendly and attentive, and sometimes gave them a small tip, which they genuinely appreciated. Food seemed mostly tailored to French guests, so choosing was sometimes difficult, but we always found something. I’d call the cuisine average, not bad but nothing special. The evening program was lacking compared with other destinations: no live shows, performances, or entertainment where you could sit with a nice drink. The bars also had a limited selection, just a few basic cocktails. The rooms were clean, with daily housekeeping, fresh towels, and made beds. The furnishings were worn and dated, and a renovation would help. It didn’t bother us much since we mostly used the room to sleep and shower. We saw some insects around the hotel, and neighbors said they were cockroaches, though we thankfully didn’t find any in our room.

We were only there for 36 hours, but what we saw made us want to return. The place is beautiful and has good facilities, with a good selection of food in the all inclusive. Staff were friendly, and the animators worked tirelessly to run entertainment throughout the day and night, including discos. Special mention to Wiley, one of the animators, whose energy and enthusiasm stayed at 110% whatever the time.
