Djerba Sun Beach Hotel

The pools are clean and there’s always a sunbed available. The hygiene is excellent, even in the old rooms, and the food is generally good. Housekeeping keeps everything spotless while staying almost invisible, and the service team, apart from the beach bar, tries hard to be quick and helpful. The animation team is especially cheerful and does a great job. Management should look after these people. Reception was the worst part. Beware of scammers: they took money for early check-in and then acted as if it had never happened. The whole team was rude and arrogant. Since reception is the first and last contact when you arrive and leave, it affected the whole stay. The spa staff spoke poor English and couldn’t present or explain what they offered. The animation team was a highlight, but I’d replace the entire reception team. They acted like they worked at a roadside hostel, not a four-star resort. Without reception, I’d have given five stars.

The only server who was kind and respectful to us was Hakim. My boyfriend and I were on our first summer holiday together, and we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome for most of it. We always said hello, please, and thank you, but staff gave us dirty looks or ignored us. One night, five different servers either ignored us or sent us to someone else when we asked for two glasses of water, despite hearing us and looking us in the eye. The buffet was unhygienic and repetitive, with little choice. Napkins, tables, and seats were always dirty. If you didn’t arrive right at the start, there might be nowhere to sit, and you could be missing forks, knives, or both. Asking for them often got you ignored or a rude answer. I saw a dead mosquito on a restaurant window seat, and it was still there four days later. The food was the same every day and boring. The rooms and bathrooms were old, with mold in places, and didn’t seem to get a proper deep clean. The animation was fun and exciting, but parties went on until 3 AM, so relaxing wasn’t an option. The animation box, where you could borrow games, tennis gear, and other things, was often open with nobody there. You either waited or left without anything to do. Reception was no help when our bathroom sink leaked. We called, were told someone would come, then waited 50 minutes. When I went down to ask, they only then asked for our room number. I said we were going to relax by the pool since we were leaving the next day, and the man didn’t even look at me, just waved me away. It was a horrible stay, with deeply disappointing service and disrespectful staff. I can’t think of anything positive to say.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food was very good, and the whole hotel was spotless. We had a great holiday, thanks especially to everyone who made us feel so welcome, from reception and the restaurant manager to animation and housekeeping. A special thank you to Diego, Bibou Mahfoudhi, Loucas, Sam, Khaled, Ninou, Angel, Mizou, Amir, Jasper (lifeguard), Abdellatif (bar), Ali Mahdhaoui (restaurant manager), Chef Naser, Houssine (barman), Bessem (receptionist), and Khouloud (guest relation). Your kindness, smiles, and great energy made the stay unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back!

My family and I spent four days here, and we all enjoyed the stay. It’s a great hotel and resort, and I loved everything about it. Five stars from me. We’ll come back again, inshallah.
