Club Tropicana & Spa Hotel

We paid extra for a room with a beautiful view, and I really recommend doing the same. The rooms and atmosphere were good, and the pools were great. There were often dance shows, theater, and other entertainment. The bars and drinks were excellent, and the food was quite good. Service was excellent as well, and the staff were very friendly. The location isn't ideal since there's nothing nearby. The beaches were okay, although some sunbeds were broken. At the end of July, the sea was awful, with lots of jellyfish, dirt, and sea plants. Overall, I thought the hotel was excellent.

The bar and restaurant staff were kind, but the reception team were rude and arrogant. We felt that guests who didn’t tip were treated even worse, and you might end up in a room with ants or other bugs. On our second day, €200 was stolen from our wallet at the hotel. They couldn’t say who might have taken it. The food was repetitive and so spicy it was almost impossible to eat, and the snack was poor and the same every day. This was the worst hotel we’ve visited. Avoid it, and keep your valuables with you.

The pools were very clean, though the beach and sea weren’t. There were jellyfish on two days. I loved the range of activities, from parasailing and jet skiing to horse riding and camels, and the hotel is about 25 minutes from Sousse. The food was excellent, the toilets were spotless, and the animation team had games every hour. Special thanks to Viki, Katy, Kristina, Billy, Djo and Zico for making our holiday brighter. They’re dedicated and lovely, and their choreography was great.

I’d have booked two days instead of a week. For a three star hotel, I wasn’t expecting much, but they seem to wait until guests complain before fixing anything. The bedroom air conditioning was noisy, had no control unit to adjust the temperature, sometimes shut itself off, and needed repair. Food was cheap and hard to swallow. It took us days to find anything without tomato sauce, and the fruit was mostly nearly white melon, though it tasted good. The better tasting dishes only appeared on a couple of days when a large number of guests had arrived. There was also a strong gas smell by the kids’ pools during the day. These issues could be caught with a checklist before new guests arrive.
