Houda Golf Beach & Aquapark

The queues for food took at least 10-15 minutes, and the noisy, slovenly behavior of Algerian families at the tables put us off eating. The drinks didn't seem to have any effect, even when consumed in the sun. There weren't enough sunbeds, and by 6 they were already taken. The pool was okay, but the sea was dirty and the beach ridiculously narrow, despite direct beach access being one reason we booked. Our room was disgusting, facing a crowded courtyard with no landscape views or privacy. The renovation looked like it might have been done last century, with visibly unprofessional repairs. We complained to staff, who put us on a waiting list and then ignored us until the end of the stay. The room was never changed.

The pool, bar, beach, and waterpark were decent, and I did enjoy parts of the stay. Still, the place needs renovation throughout. Cleaning and health and safety standards were poor, and the food was repetitive and didn't suit a British or European palate. Some staff were good, while others were pushy. The restaurant staff might as well not have been there if you didn't tip. I honestly wouldn't visit again.

The room had a window looking straight onto garbage, no minibar, and a safe that couldn't be used. There was no fridge either, and when I asked for one I was told to pay extra. Internet was advertised, but wasn't available unless I paid. Air conditioning also came with an extra charge for special tablets. Hygiene was awful. The bathroom was in terrible shape, with partly detached fixtures. A bathrobe that should have been white was yellow with urine stains, and the bedding was dirty with blood on it. Despite asking several times, nobody came to clean the room or provide basic hygiene items. The hotel has no elevator and nobody helped with luggage. There are over 1,000 rooms, but no one showed me mine. Staff refused to help, and I spent more than half a day trying to find it. Staff repeatedly asked for extra money to change rooms, use the parking lot that was supposed to be available, and get other basic services. This felt like clear extortion. The stay was a catastrophe. I paid for basic hygiene, comfort, and safety, and experienced the opposite, far beyond a simple inconvenience. I want a full refund, an urgent investigation into the hotel's actual conditions and staff behavior, and concrete steps to protect other travelers. The water slides were a letdown. Some didn't work properly, and on others you had to push yourself along to get down. The room also had a musty smell, worn bedding, and maintenance problems. Housekeepers asked us for coffee and other things, which felt inappropriate. Mealtimes meant long queues and very limited, poor-quality food. It looked and tasted like soup-kitchen food rather than something for paying hotel guests. Snacks stayed closed even when people had already queued for 45 minutes. Staff were unfriendly and unprofessional. Checking in took an hour and a half at Houda Hotel Resort. Staff were rude and unhelpful instead of apologizing. They promised compensation for the delay, but we had to chase it ourselves. This was disappointing from day one. The hotel is nowhere near deserving of its 3-star rating, and I don't understand how it's still operating. I'd strongly advise people to avoid it.
