Business Hotel Sfax

August is so hot, and the restaurant upstairs had lots of windows wide open. It was lovely up there, though my hair kept flying everywhere, which got annoying. The restaurant was great, and I’d still go back.

They stopped me at the elevator and wouldn’t let me into the rooftop bar because I had on elegant linen shorts, despite the 36C summer heat. I was dressed chic and respectfully, but apparently showing my knees was enough to keep me out. This kind of rule feels outdated and out of touch. I left without even seeing the rooftop and have no desire to return.

The room design wasn’t comfortable, and the lobby felt too small. At breakfast, I waited ages for an omelette even though it wasn’t crowded. There wasn’t a bottle of water in my room, and after I asked, it took an hour to arrive. My check-in was slow and unwelcoming despite arriving after 2pm. My VIP Platinum plan usually gives me easy, express check-in at other hotels, but that wasn’t the case here. Receptionist Hela came across as arrogant and unprofessional, and treated her colleagues, especially the staff in training, poorly. This doesn’t deserve the 8.7 rating on Booking.com. You can get better service, treatment, and a room for the same budget at other hotels in Sfax.

The hotel has parking, and the rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast had great options, the best I had in Tunisia. Staff were helpful, and the security guard was great. There’s a bar that can get busy and loud, but we couldn’t hear it from our room. It’s about a five-minute drive from the medina or a 20-minute walk.
