Hôtel Sindbad Sousse

I stayed for a few days a while ago and only just got around to writing this. The staff weren’t friendly, and music from the club kept the hotel noisy until 4 a.m.

Breakfast was included and paid for with the booking, but they didn’t provide it. The lounge waiters also kept some of my change as what felt like a forced tip. I raised it with the manager, who returned only part of the money. Rest was impossible. Loud music went on at night, with shouting and staff fighting, and in the early morning there was construction and renovation noise inside the building. The rooms were filthy, with cockroaches everywhere, and the towels and bed linen were old and worn. Staff were extremely rude, and even basic services came with endless delays. I strongly advise against staying here. This place can hardly be called a hotel, and doesn’t feel fit for people to stay in. I’d choose an apartment or studio, or pay a little more for somewhere clean, decent and safe.

On my second visit at the end of June, the man at the counter was friendly and nice. The hotel and neighbourhood can be noisy until 3AM, so it’s not a great choice if you’re not into parties and need a good night’s sleep. My first visit, in early June, was a fair experience for a three-star hotel. The room was good and the bathroom was fair.

The workers were helpful and friendly, but that didn’t make up for the rest. It’s a rundown place with barely clean rooms, and I felt disgusted sleeping there. Most things were broken, including the shower. Luckily I was there just one night. The pool was closed for “renovation”; they offered access to another hotel’s pool, 3km away. You get what you pay for.
