The food was good, even if breakfast got repetitive. Lunch came soon after, so it wasn’t a big problem. Drinks were tasty and well made, and the alcohol was good quality with no real limit. A special holiday dinner was prepared for us, which felt like a thoughtful, professional gesture. The hotel manager runs a tight ship, and that seemed to help keep things clean and orderly without spoiling the atmosphere. Staff were helpful and friendly, and seemed content at work. There were some great fellow guests too: the British group brought a nice vibe, and guests from Algeria shared interesting conversations, though some could be a bit pushy and seemed to be looking for a European partner. It’s a good-quality hotel I’d recommend.

No pool inside, and the internet and TV were missing too. Breakfast and dinner were both really bad. A bad experience 😞

We spent two weeks at the Royal Beach in 2005, and I still think of Tunisia fondly. The people are so friendly, and the place has tugged at my heart for years. I’d love to be back among those friends again. Near the end of our first week, my partner, my seven-year-old daughter, my in-laws Colin aka Rambo and his wife Linda, and I decided to wander beyond the familiar area around the hotel. After dinner we just kept walking and chatting, then found ourselves browsing shops in the backstreets. We eventually reached a construction site where a newly opened road had to be crossed in a zigzag. We all got back safely in time to catch the rest of the entertainment. Watching and listening to local people relaxing over a mezzo platter was fascinating. We always try to explore wherever we go on holiday, and this was one of those memorable walks.

Dinner was average, and the room had no TV or Wi-Fi. The air conditioning was the worst I’ve ever had.
