Fafa Island Resort

I loved the chance to switch off here and plan to return as soon as I can. You can slow down, watch the sunset with a cocktail and your favorite person, and forget about phones, shoes, and news. Don’t expect 5 star accommodation, but the relaxation feels like 10 star. Thank you.

Bliss. The bar and lounge sit right by the water, lunch was tasty, and you can hire snorkelling kits for [cheap]. The common areas and fale accommodation are attractively set among the jungle covering most of the island. I only visited for the day, so didn’t get to try the fale. The boat transfer from Tongatapu takes about 30 minutes. For an intimate tropical island resort stay, this is the best you’ll find in Tongatapu.

The bird life is everywhere on this quiet, secluded island, from pukekos and bats to parrots. They do seem to chat through the night! The accommodation was great and the bed comfy, and the resort staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The restaurant is good, though a little pricey, so bring a snack from the mainland if you want one. I’d love to return for a longer stay someday.

A little island paradise, magical and peaceful. It’s small, clean, relaxed, and everyone was so friendly. The Tongan hospitality comes with German organisation skills.
