Butik Akvaryum

The price was very competitive, and the receptionist was kind and supportive. The area is good for restaurants and shops, and the hotel is close to the seaside street. Google Maps doesn’t show the exact spot, so walk another 50 meters or ask at the shops. The entrance is near the ATM.

We spent 10 days at Butik Akvaryum just recently, and the hotel had a wonderful atmosphere with a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Our room was clean and comfortable, and when we asked the staff to clean it, the service was really good. Breakfast was served at Nissi, where the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was lovely too. Room 2 has a beautiful window view across the island toward Istanbul. Just remember to close the curtains at night and in the morning if you’re in that room, since there’s a restaurant right next to the hotel on the second floor.

The location is very central, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and the Mavi Marmara ferry is just a 10-minute walk away. We arrived without a reservation, and the staff kindly showed us the rooms so we could choose. They were all modern and clean. Some face the Marmara Sea, while others look onto the street. Even the street-facing rooms are comfortable, get morning sun, and are quiet at night because the island settles down. Thanks for a comfortable stay. The staff were very kind and helpful, and these were the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in on Büyükada. The air conditioning was new, very clean, and worked really well. The bathroom was clean too, though it smelled of grilled fish, likely because of poor ventilation. I wouldn’t choose the attic room again: it had a roof window but not enough openings for fresh air. I’d stay on the second or third floor next time. Still, it’s a great place for the price.
