Kalamari Boutique Hotel

The room we’d paid an advance for wasn’t available when we arrived because it was being repaired. Instead, we were given a very small, dirty room. There was noise until early morning, and the place had no class. It was horrible, and I can’t recommend this hotel.

The location is good, but I found the hotel dirty, unhygienic, and concerning in terms of security. I had a much better experience at My Wall Terrace Hotel in the same area in 2023, just 200-300 meters away. It was a clean boutique hotel with decent staff. On the eve of a holiday, we arrived around 12:30 noon and called for the receptionist several times. They were asleep in the back from the night before. They told us to call the owner, saying, "I'm sleeping, do whatever you want," then went back to sleep. The owner said our rooms weren’t ready and asked us to return in an hour or two. We never went back. My money was wasted, though it doesn’t matter now. I absolutely don’t recommend this place.

I stayed just last night, and these are my impressions. If you’re coming off-season, keep expectations modest. It’s more like a guesthouse. If a warm room, clean bed, rest, and TV are what you want, you may like it. There are non-smoking rooms. Hot water is fine until evening, but if you want a shower at night, there’s a problem and you’ll need to wait until morning. Then the water is almost boiling, and you can have a very nice bath. For now, card payments aren’t possible because of a change of ownership. The staff are warm and attentive, and try their best not to disappoint you. Rooms at the front may get noise from nightlife venues, so you might not sleep well.

The sea view and reasonable price sounded good, but they weren’t enough to make up for this stay. The duvet was dirty, probably not washed, and the room was visibly filthy. Music went on until 1 a.m., then there was even more music and laughter at reception. I think it was the hotel’s own odd staff making all that noise, and they kept me awake. I was meant to stay three nights, but got up early for a shower and found there wasn’t even water to wash my hands and face. This is unacceptable management, shame on them. The hotel should close or be renovated. It doesn’t fit the island at all. I wouldn’t want anyone to spend a night here feeling disgusted and angry. My condolences to anyone who has to stay.
