The staff are what make Triada Hotel feel so welcoming. Everyone, from the manager to the service team, is kind, professional, and attentive. There are lots of repeat guests, some returning every month or two, so it has a real community feel. Evenings around the outdoor fire are nice for chatting over drinks, and breakfast has plenty of sweet and savory choices. The hotel sits in a quiet part of Büyükada, away from the bigger mansions and busier tourist spots, but it’s near the center and easy to reach by public transport. You can stay in a mansion or a bungalow. I’ve chosen a bungalow on each visit, though the mansion rooms are very nice too, so it comes down to what you prefer. The bungalows are tucked behind the hotel among trees and a lovely garden. Each has its own porch and seating area, and they’re cozy, nicely decorated, spotless, and comfortable. In winter you can see the sea from the porches. The mansions are higher up, so some have slightly better views, and a few have balconies. They feel more luxurious, while the bungalows have a snug cabin-in-the-woods feel with modern conveniences.

We left a day early because another night there felt unbearable. We’d booked three nights seven months ahead for a family wedding, but on arrival they weren’t expecting us. Our rooms weren’t ready for a 4 pm check-in, so we waited while staff cleaned them. Even then, they were dirty: black mold in the shower, cobwebs, and stained, undersized sheets and towels. The room drains smelled awful throughout the stay, and nobody cleaned our room while we were there. The staff were rude and seemed incredibly lazy, with no apology for the late check-in. Breakfast was terrible too. There weren’t enough clean chairs or tables, and most of the furniture was covered in bird droppings. We had to eat standing up, while staff did nothing to clean the furniture or find clean chairs. The food itself was poor quality. The whole experience spoiled our holiday. We were so disappointed. Please don’t stay here, it’s horrible.

The sunrise from this location is incredible, so set an alarm if you stay. I also loved seeing moonlight on the ocean. Breakfast was traditional, with amazing choices, and it was the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. We stayed in a bungalow, the room was clean and had all the expected amenities. Check-in was quick, and the welcome from the staff was probably the most enthusiastic I’ve ever had at a hotel. They’re joyful and so welcoming. Triada really does make for a peaceful getaway. 🥰 💯

The hillside setting gives the hotel lovely views and beautiful gardens, and we found all the steps quite exhilarating. There are bungalow-style rooms, individual rustic timber-frame bungalows, and standard rooms. Just be aware that you have to climb quite a few steps to reception, then even more to reach the bungalows. That could be hard for anyone less fit or with special needs, and the steep natural terrain may not suit wheelchair users.

The rooms are clean, and the bathrooms are hygienic. This is a quiet, romantic boutique hotel on a foothill in Buyukada, with plenty of open green areas to sit. The staff are pleasant and accommodating, though there can be a significant language barrier if you don’t speak Turkish. A good choice for a couples getaway.
