Afbel Termal & SPA Hotel

The hotel feels old and poorly designed, like it hasn't been improved for years. The most upsetting part was being asked to provide a marriage certificate to share a room with my partner. That felt humiliating and like a violation of privacy. I wouldn't recommend it.

We arrived at midnight, and our room was ready with staff there to help. The food at all meals was good quality and served buffet style, though the coffee machine was always out of order. Staff were friendly enough to give us information, and the room was clean and large enough for us. It's municipally owned, I guess, so we kept our expectations low, but it was better than we expected.

The staff were helpful, friendly, polite, and worked really hard. We enjoyed four nights on half board at Afbel Thermal Spa Hotel. Breakfast and dinner were buffets with loads of choices, and our room on the fourth floor was large, with tiled floors and a modern bathroom. The walk-in shower was spacious and had really powerful water pressure. The room was cleaned daily and kept very clean. Bathrobes were provided for going to and from the spa, and it was quiet in both the room and hotel area, so we slept well. The hotel is a five-minute drive outside Afyon, just off the main highway. It's easy to find and has a large, secure car park. I'd recommend it as a base for exploring Afyon and the surrounding area.

The food was the one thing we really liked. We were disappointed because we wanted to use the spa together, but men and women have separate areas, including separate little pools in the spa. You can't sit together with your partner in the thermal bath or enjoy a massage together, and I didn't feel comfortable there. The water was so hot I couldn't get in. The rooms are sterile, old, but clean, and the whole hotel looks old even though it has only been open for 4 or 5 years. There was no kettle or tea bags in the room.
