Nehir Butik Otel

The river alone makes a stay here worthwhile. Nehir Butik hotel sits by the Azmak River on the edge of Akyaka, a seaside village. We were surprised by how clean and pleasant the atmosphere was. For what we planned to spend, we expected somewhere more worn, but NB was charming and up to date.

The rooms were about what the price suggested, but there were lots of midges, the beds weren’t very comfortable, and sound carried easily. What really soured our feelings about the hotel was the service. Breakfast was included, but when my parents asked for a few extra glasses of tea, we were charged 150 TL for five. Nobody had told us beforehand that extra tea cost money, and there was no menu. Only after breakfast did we learn it was 25 TL a cup. They tried to convince us that tea costs 25 TL everywhere in Turkey, which seemed very expensive for this place. At that rate, five cups would be 125 TL, not 150 TL. We eventually got 25 TL back, but being cheated felt awful. Many cafes serve tea free, so guests should be told in advance that it’s charged here. Coffee at breakfast costs extra too.

The rooms were very clean, parking was easy, and the restaurant was nice. The location was perfect, and both the staff and owners were very kind.

A lovely, relaxing place with wonderful food. The service was excellent and the staff were really pleasant. I’d highly recommend a visit.
