Amasra Timur Otel

This was the stay we regretted most during our week-long trip. We’d told them when booking that we had a small child, and they promised a baby cot. Once we arrived, though, they said they’d given it to another customer. The three of us had to share a double bed, and we were awake until morning. We’d booked two days but checked out after just one. Breakfast was almost nonexistent: olives, cheese, honey, boiled eggs, and potatoes were listed. All hot items and plates cost extra. In the room, the curtains were torn and didn’t cover the window fully. There was also an ashtray sitting in a paper cup on the windowsill, and we didn’t know who it belonged to. The whole experience ruined our Amasra trip. We chose the place based on reviews that were completely misleading. One mentioned homemade sauces, while another said there were no sauces, only homemade jam, and there wasn’t any jam either. A review praised the breakfast staff as friendly, but they looked miserable. The reviews sound like hotel ads and were probably written by friends and family. I hope nobody else has to go through this. I absolutely don’t recommend it.

Everything was as described, and we felt right at home. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the location is very central, and breakfast was clean and quite enough. Mr. Aziz, the hotel owner, and his wife were friendly and helpful. We loved our stay and can see this being our only choice from now on. I don’t understand the negative reviews, and I wouldn’t let them put anyone off this lovely place.

We stayed as a family and were very happy with the value for money and the excellent location. The rooms with balconies have sea views. One small idea for breakfast: adding french fries might make it better for families with children. Thanks to all the staff. We’d gladly stay again if we’re in the area.

We left disappointed and won’t come back or recommend the place. We were told by phone that breakfast was included, but on arrival Mr. Aziz said, “They don’t normally have breakfast, but I’ll treat you.” That was ridiculous. We’d booked the last room and were told it didn’t have a sea view, even though that hadn’t been disclosed when we booked a room with one. They said we’d have to change rooms and so on. The service was terrible. Two girls had to carry a huge suitcase themselves. When we asked for help, they brushed us off, saying they had a herniated disc. The bathroom was mediocre and the water didn’t flow properly. There was only one pair of slippers, no towels, and no refrigerator or dryer. I really don’t understand what we paid for. I didn’t complain at the time because I didn’t want to spoil my vacation.
