Anka Residence

We had a tidy one-bedroom apartment that felt like good value, and the staff were nice. The room was ready at 13, but one of the men still told us to wait until 16 to check in. He said we could have arrived earlier if we’d booked through him. We were on the ground floor, so people could stare straight in and we had to keep the curtains closed. There was only one small bottle of soap.

I booked around 17:20 for an unexpected business trip and got to the hotel at 22:00 after a long shift and a long journey. The rude staff said I hadn’t checked in by 16:00, even though that was before I’d made the booking. They’d cancelled it and told me to cancel through Agoda. I was exhausted and had to deal with all that nonsense.

The room felt unfinished, with holes in the ceiling and cables coming out of the shower and wall, and it wasn’t clean. The sheets and couch were dirty, the couch was too small to sleep on, and every room had a cigarette smell. There’s a huge aquarium in the lobby that seems abandoned. The man at reception was kind, though, and let us leave our luggage after checkout.

A cozy spot right in the middle of everything, with easy access to transport and a very welcoming receptionist.
