Ankara Plaza Hotel

I spent a week at Elite Palas Hotel for a visa appointment. Getting around was easy from there: it was close to the lab building, main roads, metro, buses, and taxis, with cafés and shops nearby. The staff were generally polite and friendly, the Wi-Fi worked well, and it was calm and relaxing. That's why I gave it 4 out of 5, though several things need work. The old air conditioner barely worked, and the remote left in the room was the wrong one. Once they found the right remote, it was so worn that reading the temperature was difficult. The extra bed for the third person in our double room was extremely old and uncomfortable, and I got bedbug bites during my stay. There was a meal menu and QR code in the room, but no restaurant was actually available. Outside noise came through clearly and was sometimes disturbing. Most staff spoke only Turkish, so communication could be difficult; only one or two spoke Persian or English.

What made my stay at Elite Palas hotel special was Marzieh (the chef). She was kind, helpful, always greeted me with a smile, suggested good local food, and was very accommodating to my needs. She made me feel welcome, and her positive attitude added a lot to the stay. The hotel itself was clean and well located, too. I had a fantastic visit and highly recommend it.

I found a piece of furniture missing from my room after I had been out. Nobody had asked me or even told me it was being taken, and when I asked, I was told they didn't know what I meant. Nothing else was gone, but someone entering without permission was upsetting. The rooms are spacious and clean, though they could be cleaner. The hotel is old and needs renovation. I could hear noises through the walls, including water pipes, and weekends were a bit noisy. The location is amazing, and the staff are nice and sweet.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and the location is convenient, near Doctorun, a lab for US medical tests, and PTT. This is my second stay, though, and the breakfast seems to have gotten worse. One annoying thing is having to recharge the key every time I want to open my room.
