The thermal pools were one of the best parts of our stay at Çam Hotel. There are separate spa areas for women, men, and families, with hot thermal pools, a large swimming pool, a Turkish bath, sauna, and steam room. The pools were spacious and the water felt just right. Moving from a warm pool into the crisp outdoor air among the pines was especially lovely. Tea and coffee were available during the day too. We were staying in the middle of Soğuksu National Park, in Kızılcahamam, with the town center within walking distance. You can get there by car or local bus and minibus, and it's only around 1-1.5 hours from Ankara. The forest setting was peaceful, and we loved the view from our bed. Our room was clean, modern, and well kept, with a double bed and a single bed, so it worked well for families. The hotel is half-board, with breakfast and dinner. There was lots to choose from, including salads, meat and chicken dishes, pasta, rice, and plenty of desserts. Everything we tried tasted good. Just be careful, it's easy to eat more than you meant to. Staff were welcoming throughout, and we want to thank Ms. Betül, Ms. Aleyna, and the whole team for their hospitality. We had a relaxing nature break and would recommend it.

The coffee from the machines in the lobby and restaurant was terrible, and it didn't feel up to the hotel's standard. The pools for adults and children, on the other hand, were clean and pleasantly warm. The kids' room only opened at noon, which felt late, but reception kindly let us in earlier in the morning with an adult supervising. We also played table games on the first floor in the evenings, where it was nicely quiet. We stayed for five days just after the Bayram holidays, and the staff were polite and attentive, from reception to the restaurant and housekeeping. A special thanks to Ms. Eda in the main restaurant, who was so thoughtful and charming with our child. The cleaning staff checked every day whether we needed service and took care of it promptly. There was always plenty of food, with different meats, cooked vegetables, appetizers, salads, and desserts. The forest setting, facilities, and courteous staff made it a lovely family vacation.

The spa was unpredictable and poorly managed. On Saturday the steam room and sauna were switched off at 8 p.m., and during opening hours there was major cleaning in the changing room with water everywhere. The same happened on Sunday. By Monday morning, the sauna and steam room were completely off, construction was underway, and people were walking around smoking. The staff were otherwise very friendly, and housekeeping was especially helpful. We were told there'd be a 15-20 minute wait when we arrived, which seemed fair. I tipped the bellboy to bring our luggage from the car to the room. After we were told the room was ready, we waited another 10-15 minutes upstairs with no bags. Reception said they'd arrive shortly, but they didn't, so I went down and collected them myself. At checkout, when I brought it up, reception said they must have been busy. Our Wi-Fi was on the sixth floor and only worked if you stood by the door. On Saturday night, the hotel hosted an iftar with lots of children and many people who weren't hotel guests. They were loud and running around. Management could have let them in through another entrance and kept them away from the reception and sitting area. Because of that, we couldn't sit in the lounge by reception and enjoy tea or coffee on our first night. We came for two days, but I enjoyed only two or three hours of the stay. Such a letdown. I'd look for somewhere else next time.

We were glad to stay for one night, and in general it was a good experience, though not without problems. The location in the middle of the national park was unusual, but precious and peaceful. The open buffet breakfast and dinner were okay, about 75 out of 100. I was surprised there were no herbal teas in the spa. The tea itself was pretty good, but the coffee machines were old and made awful coffee. Her mom's experience was nice, and Nazeera from Kirgizistan was very professional and did a great job. The worst part was the beds and pillows, which were very hard and uncomfortable. I slept maybe two hours total, which was strange because I felt extremely tired after all the water treatments and the massage.

The water may be thermal, but the place didn't feel relaxing. In the first minutes of a massage, employee >Gökhan behaved disrespectfully. I reported it calmly, but nothing meaningful happened. He stayed at the spa reception with the same attitude. That felt like management turning a blind eye. I left two days early even though I'd already paid, because hospitality and respect are basic to a real five-star stay. The local managers showed little authority. Even the woman manager kept calling higher-ups instead of acting directly. Yusuf at reception was professional, spoke English, and helped, and the cleaning ladies worked hard and treated us respectfully. Still, a few good employees can't make up for a toxic spa decorated with plastic plants and run by weak management. After the hotel replied, they offered someone else or a refund, but those were just polite words. Respect can't be substituted or bought back, and that completely missed the point. Future guests shouldn't be fooled by polished replies. Until things change, this isn't a real 5-star hotel.
