Hilton Garden Inn Ankara Gimat

As a Hilton Diamond member, I know this Garden Inn is only a three-star hotel, but the breakfast experience was awful. I'm sitting in the breakfast area now and haven't seen Mr. Arslan, who was mentioned in other reviews. There are just two staff members here, an elderly bald man and a curly-haired woman, both with unpleasant attitudes. They seem busy, but helping foreign guests doesn't seem to be a priority. Every table had bottled water, tall glasses, and teapots except ours. I politely asked for the water other tables had. The bald male staff member ignored me at first, then deliberately looked away when I tried to get his attention, even as he enthusiastically helped another guest with coffee. When we finally made eye contact, he reluctantly tossed a bottle onto my table. If someone has reached the point where they don't want to work but have to, they should at least do the job properly. Otherwise, they might as well stay home and rest.

Breakfast was excellent, with lots of fresh choices, good cheese, and cooked options. The room was nice and spacious, with a city view, a huge walk-in shower, and shampoo and conditioner. They also provided an extra bed for our toddler. The only odd thing was that there was just one coffee and one tea bag for a room with three beds and a family staying. Maybe two people want coffee 😳 I'd stay here again.

On check-in day, I found hairs on the bedsheet and stains on the quilt. I asked for a change, then waited over half an hour and had to call several times to follow up. The reception supervisor wasn't helpful, and I was told the room no longer comes with a tissue box. As a former Hilton employee, I'm surprised the Hilton standard has fallen this far. I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here.

There's little to do around the hotel, which sits in an industrial area with poor access to public transport. The fixtures and fittings feel tired. The gym is okay at best, while breakfast is good. You can reach the metro station, but it's a half-hour walk, and there's a bus stop within ten minutes on foot.
