ROX Hotel Ankara

I was charged $150 a night, even though my Booking.com reservation was $159 for 2 nights. We got there at midnight after a long flight, too tired and late to start searching for another hotel. The room was horrible, and the hotel was dirty and broken throughout. I paid for a suite, but it was only a suite in name. The table and bed were broken too. The power kept cutting out when I plugged in my hair dryer, and it burned. Staff also showed the room to other people while our belongings were still inside, after assuming we were out. The service was terrible. I'm very disappointed and don't recommend this place at all. If you want to be scammed, go here.

The hotel is very well located, near two metro stations and several good restaurants. The room's decor was beautiful, but the mattress had stains and the sofa was a little dirty. Staff were friendly and helpful, though their English wasn't fluent. Breakfast didn't have a satisfying range of options or taste.

There's loads to reach on foot, from small malls and markets to places to eat, so shopping and food are easy to find nearby. They also let guests bring food into the hotel, and we ordered some there. Breakfast was the downside. It was the same every day, with menemin, french fries, boiled eggs, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, three kinds of cheese, butter, jam, plain yoghurt, chai, coffee, and packets of cream biscuits. They added borek one day. I missed having fresh juice, and would have liked fresh fruit and more dishes such as omelettes or fried eggs cooked to order, pancakes, French toast, flavored yoghurt, granola, or falafel. I only ate breakfast at the hotel on the first and last days. My family went out for fresh breakfast because they couldn't find anything they liked there.

The room smelled awful, and the air conditioning didn't work, leaving it close to 30 degrees. They could only suggest opening the window, which faced the main street. Bugs got in, the street was noisy, and nobody managed to sleep.
