Lion City Hotel Kizilay

The staff were super helpful, and the location is great, close to central Ankara and only minutes from Kocepe Mosque. The rooms were okay, though a little run down and in need of some sprucing up. There were no duvets when we checked in. We got some eventually, but had to put the covers on ourselves. No kettle in the room either, so you have to call for coffee or tea. Breakfast costs TL300 per person.

The room itself was good, though the toilet roll holder wasn't attached and the smoke detector was in the drawer with its battery removed. Breakfast was the main problem. The rolls came in individual plastic bags, the cups and glasses were wax coated cardboard, and water was served in plastic tubs. Bread is fresh, cheap, and easy to find all over Turkey, and the hotel already has crockery and glassware. They should use those and provide a water dispenser. This is Ankara, the capital, so please set a good example.

We spent four nights and five days at the hotel, and everything was excellent. The room was tidy and very clean, and whenever we needed anything it was taken care of right away. Special thanks to Ms. Gülşah, Ms. Gülhan, and the other staff whose names I didn't get. Thanks to the management too, and best wishes for continued success.

The location made getting around easy. We could walk five minutes to a shopping street, catch a bus or the underground, and there were plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. Our car was parked securely through the hotel's valet service. Inside, the atmosphere was pleasant, the reception staff were friendly and efficient, and our room was comfortable with enough space for our luggage, tables, chairs, a fridge, and a wardrobe. The Italian-style shower doors worked perfectly. Even with the COVID-19 restrictions, breakfast was abundant and served by kind staff. We'd gladly recommend staying here.
