Awen Hotel Lara

Ahmet made a real difference to our stay. He was patient, warm, and ready to help throughout, and always greeted us with a smile. We felt comfortable and valued, and his kindness toward me and my family meant a lot. He clearly takes pride in his work, and the hotel is lucky to have him. If we’re ever back in turkiye, I hope we cross paths again. Thank you, Ahmet, for all your help.

The hotel stay was pleasant in many ways. Most of the staff were lovely, and Ahmet was especially kind and welcoming and looked after us well. The TV in our rooms didn’t work, though, and I couldn’t understand why breakfast wasn’t allowed outside even on sunny days. The shopping trip to Sansibar Bazaar, which the hotel encouraged with a “free transfer,” was very uncomfortable. We were followed around, pushed to buy things we didn’t want, charged too much as tourists, and didn’t feel able to browse freely. Melek at Sansibar kept close to me and repeatedly tried to sell things after I’d said no. It was overwhelming and nothing like relaxed shopping. The taxi driver also took us to his friend’s shop and pressured us to spend there. We later learned there were other places we could have gone, but he refused to take us anywhere else. We just wanted to choose for ourselves and look around in peace. At one point our bank cards were taken from our hands and tapped on the machine without proper consent. It was shocking and felt like financial exploitation. I’d avoid these “free transfer” shopping trips and go out independently instead. Use uber, since taxis may overcharge tourists. Aside from that experience, the hotel and staff like Ahmet were great.

YouTube and Netflix were a nice bonus, and everything we needed was in the room. The beds were so comfy, and the towels were really soft. Awen Hotel was spotless, with lovely bathroom products, and the staff were always smiling and helpful. Can't recommend it enough. Thanks for everything, Ana-Maria Gyorgy.

Breakfast was fresh and tasty, though I would’ve liked a bit more variety. The hotel is also a little far from the main areas. Still, we had a wonderful stay at Awen Lara Hotel. The place was beautiful and very clean, our spacious modern room was comfortable, and the pool, spa, and other facilities made the visit more enjoyable. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the value for money was excellent. Great for comfort and relaxation, highly recommended.
