Niss Lara Hotel

Only Ismael at the front desk made our three-night stay in September tolerable. There were three of us, and a leak from the basin we'd reported meant we had to throw towels on the floor to soak up the water. We never saw cleaning staff, and the hotel is run down. There are good restaurants nearby, and a day tour meant we could spend as little time at the hotel as possible. Avoid this place at all cost.

The rooms look nothing like the pictures, and I wouldn't have booked if I'd known what they were really like. The price is okay, but I'd have looked elsewhere. The food has very little variety, so you basically eat the same thing every day. Sometimes dishes were empty and we had to ask for more, and at times there weren't any forks either. The staff were very friendly and helpful in our case, except for one receptionist who was often missing from the front desk and lying on the sofas. My stars are for the rest of the staff.

The breakfast was healthy, just how I like it, and having coffee and tea available throughout the day was a nice extra. Rooms are spacious and fresh, and the staff were genuinely friendly and incredibly helpful. It works for a short stay, but is comfortable enough for longer too. I'd definitely stay again.

The pool was clean, but the deck chairs around it had ants, and plates were left on them for over 2 days. The hotel photos were completely fake, photoshopped and airbrushed to look far better than the place really is. The room was worn down, with broken items and hygiene levels of -10. I'm still shocked. There was a dead bug, dirty socks, and hair in the sink, on supposedly clean towels, and in the bed. We were given a used soap bottle, used towel, and used toilet paper when we arrived. The TV, hair dryer, and phone didn't work. We were told there would be daily housekeeping, but none came unless we asked. Even then, we were lucky if anyone cleaned the room. From day 1 we raised the hygiene problems with staff. They told us several times it was just the room, and swapping rooms would cost £150 PER NIGHT, way more than we originally paid. When we threatened to report the hygiene issue, they promised to move us, but never did. The whole place needs to be closed down. We weren't the only guests complaining, and several people staying there were very unhappy. It felt like one big scam. One guest moved hotels because they were so shocked. I wish I'd taken more videos and photos to expose them. We couldn't upload the videos, but I did screenshot some photos to show the state of the place. A horrible experience all round. DO NOT BOOK!
